Tourist activities to discover around
Open Air Hotel Fouras
The Fouras open-air hotel*** campsite borders the Atlantic coast, making it the perfect place for a holiday in nature, where you can enjoy the sea breeze. The region has a strong and unique cultural heritage, and the famous Fort Boyard takes centre stage. See this magnificent “monument” close-up aboard a short cruise or on a sailing trip. Returning to the coast, you’ll often see fish shacks, which are traditional local fishing spots. These vividly coloured shelters on stilts are the second best known symbol of the magnificent region of the Charente-Maritime.
The seaside resort of Fouras, close to our campsite on the Atlantic coast, gives you an exceptional view of the four islands which form the Charente archipelago: the islands of Aix, Madame, Ré and Oléron. With the charming villages of the île d’Oléron, the Baleines lighthouse on the île de Ré, the aquaculture farm on the île Madame and the little paradise that is the île d’Aix, you will discover places that are each more enchanting than the next. When you come back to dry land, why not check out the towns of Royan, Saintes, Rochefort and Cognac. Walk through the historic heart of La Rochelle and visit the aquarium, which is only minutes away from the Fouras campsite. Together with your kids you can experience 5D adventures at Futuroscope in Poitiers, which is about 2 hrs from the campsite by car.
